Shi, a young game designer, embarks on a difficult journey across the city to look for his missing roommate Gao. Following a clue hidden in an online game, he unexpectedly meets YY, Gao’s girlfriend. Bound by their shared search for answers, Shi and YY navigate both the real world and virtual game spaces, pursuing the truth while confronting the blurred boundaries between memory, reality, and digital worlds.

Dong Jie (1996) grew up in Shanghai and graduated from Beijing Film Academy where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Directing. Break, a 50-minute thesis film he writes and directs, was selected for Pingyao International Film Festival, Beijing International Short Film Festival and other film festivals. He also worked as an editor for Summer Blur (2020) and Are You Lonesome Tonight? (2021). Dong is the author of the short story collection The Gap of Migration, which was published during his college days. Zoom In, Zoom Out is his first feature film.
