“Among the Ruins, Beauty”. Unveiled the 41. SIC official artwork
News08.2026
We live in a time that has begun dropping bombs again, as though the century we believed we had left behind had never truly ended. But we should be clear: it is not only in war zones that people seek shelter among the ruins. We all live amid the remains of decisions made elsewhere, by others, over our heads. Everything seems to be the remnant of something that once existed and that we can now only gather up, struggling to hold it together.
And yet, something survives in the cracks. On the few walls that have not yet collapsed, a colour endures that no bomb has been able to erase. Because even when it has nothing left, even when it is subdued, exhausted, angry or furious, humanity continues to create beauty.
It is not a lucid, deliberate choice, but the painful, physical and uncontrollable response of a goddess of the arts emerging from the rubble itself, unable to do anything but vomit wonder. From her open mouth come not screams, but rivers of colour spilling over the walls and flooding the streets. This is what cinema has always done, and what life has always done: paint upon the ruins, despite everything.
A hard, hard, hard rain is going to fall. But beauty will save the world.
